Samsung Galaxy S23 FE could be making a comeback this year

Samsung traditionally unveils a Fan Edition or FE version of its Galaxy flagships after the first half of the year. However, the company’s plans went for a toss in 2021, as the Galaxy S21 FE’s launch had to be postponed to January 2022 — just weeks before the imminent release of the Galaxy S22. Following this situation, Samsung chose to skip the FE version for the Galaxy S22, but we’re now coming across reports suggesting a comeback of sorts later this year.

As per a South Korean publication, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S23 FE sometime in August or September 2023. The hardware of the smartphone is a mystery right, but the report goes on to mention that the Galaxy S23 FE would effectively replace the Galaxy A74.

Reports have suggested that Samsung is keen on reshaping its mid-range A-series of Galaxy phones. With multiple devices in the lineup, the company is likely to shelve one or more smartphones in the series. There have also been unconfirmed reports about the Galaxy A7 series of handsets potentially being on the chopping block.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE expected specifications

Any discussion regarding the smartphone’s hardware would be purely speculative at this early stage, but it’s not hard to find some pieces of the puzzle. For instance, we know that Samsung will retain the same or at least a similar design for the Galaxy S23 FE, while some other elements, such as the front and rear cameras, may also be present.

Overall, we expect the Galaxy S23 FE to feature identical hardware as the vanilla Galaxy S23, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, and sizeable storage + RAM options. 5G should be available by default, while we’re hoping the company manages to pack a larger battery than the 3,900mAh unit residing under the entry-level Galaxy S23.
