Varisu, the Kollywood film released theatrically on January 11th 2023. The film has received mixed reviews from critics. It is headlined by actor Vijay. According to reports, the actor will make a cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee’s pan-India film Jawan. Varisu is running successfully worldwide. The family entertainer film, loaded with action ‘Varisu’, will stream on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. According to reports, the Tamil film will premiere on the platform on February 22nd 2023. However, there is no official confirmation with regard to the film’s OTT release date. Vaarasudu, the Telugu dubbed version of the film, is also expected to go on the OTT floors on the same day and the same platform.

The official trailer of Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Varisu was made public by Sun TV on YouTube. It was shared on January 4th, and it has received 48,150,055 views and 2.3M likes until now. With the working title Thalapathy 66, the film was announced on September 26th 2021. The inaugural puja ceremony of the movie’s shooting was held in Chennai on April 6 2022 and filming of Varisu’s first schedule. The film was shot at multiple locations across states.

Varisu Storyline
The film’s title literally means ‘heir’ in both Tamil and Telugu. The story revolves around the Rajendran family. Vijay Rajendran (Vijay) is the youngest son of a business tycoon Rajendran Palanisamy (R. Sarathkumar). He is disowned by his father after he refuses to join the family business and has plans to launch a food delivery startup. Seven years go by, and Rajendran Palanisamy discovers he has advanced-stage pancreatic cancer. Rajendran Palanisamy decides to announce either of his two sons, Jay (Srikanth) or Ajay (Shaam), as the chairman of the company on his 65th birthday.

At Sudha Rajendran’s (Jayasudha) insistence, even Vijay returns to the party. Vijay figures out that his family and relationships are in complete disarray. During the birthday celebrations, Ajay and Jay’s hidden truths come to light, and Vijay steps in as the heir to save the day. Along the way, Vijay battles external enemies and tries to bring his family together. The film via Vijay Rajendran aims to deliver the message that though no family is perfect, but you have only one family. Rashmika Mandanna essays the character of Divya.
